U of C Collegiate Space Design Competition

About This Event

The University of Chicago Collegiate Space Design Competition (UCCSDC) is a new event hosted by the UChicago Space Program in collaboration with UChicago’s Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics. It’s the first Space Design Competition hosted at the collegiate level! For 2025, the UCCSDC is only accepting registrations from University of Chicago students. Stay tuned for further developments in 2026!

Cost To Participate

Although the event cost is over $150 per person, due to our generous sponsors participants will only have to pay $20!!

Event Schedule

Friday night - Students will have virtual activities to complete from their own homes. Students will learn more about the competition, what to expect over the weekend, and virtually meet with other participants and mentors.

Saturday - Students will arrive at the University of Chicago in the morning and receive welcome materials before breaking into companies! Their preliminary work will be reviewed in the evening.

Sunday - Companies’ proposals will be due in the morning, and teams will present for a panel of judges. The winning company will be announced in the afternoon!
